


POLIPSYCH forum centers on students' political maturity

Last July 25, 2014, the Political Science Society (POLISCY) and the Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Sikolohiya (SMS) held a forum about Political Psychology at Natividad Fajardo-Rosario Gonzales Auditorium. The discussion centered on the issue of the political maturity of the Filipino citizens. Speakers for the said forum were Gerard Eusebio, Political Science Department faculty, and Migi Moreno, former USG President.
Mr. Gerard Eusebio presented his analysis between the political maturities of the Lasallian community and of the Filipino citizens. He also shared his view on the prevalence of political dynasties in the Philippine Government. Accobding to him, “One of the glaring manifestations that showcase our retrogressing political development or political immaturity is the continuing growth of dynasties in technically, all branches of government.”
The second speaker, Migi Moreno, presented their undergraduate thesis to discuss the psychological view on the politisal maturity of the Filipino youth. He considered Political Psychology as an emerging field for research although it is not yet well established compared to other fields in Psychology. Moreno emphasized for the active involvement of the youth by not “just walking the talk but also talking the walk”.
The aim of the forum is to determine the current state of political maturity of the Filipino and its implication regarding the several political issues that country is currently facing.
