Last June 2-6, the Council of Student Organizations (CSO), together with 39 student organizations held its annual recruitment week as jumpstart for the academic year ahead. With the organizations vying for activity reforms and overall improvement, students are ensured to have an ‘exciting college experience.’

The theme for this year’s recruitment week is “destinations,” which were represented by the different student organizations. For Samahan ng mga mag-aaral sa Sikolohiya (SMS), the theme centered on space, which suggests that like psychology, space has a broad coverage and is constantly open for new discoveries.

In line with the successful recruitment week for SMS this year, SMS President Harvey Gonzales Yulo shares some insights on their main objectives for the organization.

“Napakarami ang nagsasabing hindi nila kami [SMS] nararamdaman sa mga nagdaang taon, at hindi ito nararapat dahil isa sa mga vision ng SMS ay ang patuloy na mapaglingkuran at maibigay ang mga kinakailangan ng mga psychology majors, [Many people are saying that they don’t feel the presence of SMS throughout the past years. This is not supposed to be since one of the visions of SMS is to continuously serve and provide the needs of psychology majors],” he said in the caption of the profile picture he posted in Facebook.

This year, SMS also aims to provide new and innovative activities, talks, seminars, etc. to ensure that the psychology majors are well-accounted for. With a challenging but fulfilling year ahead, SMS’ new officers are set to make a big difference in terms of the organization’s purpose and image to the student body.
