Last May 12-13, College of Liberal Arts (CLA) freshmen were welcomed to DLSU and were oriented on various topics about the University. Included in the two-day orientation of the Lasallian Personal Effectiveness Program (LPEP) were campus tours, lectures, activities in the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium (TYA) and a frosh welcoming involving the different student organizations.
LPEP is held as an annual event of the Council of Student Organizations (CSO), together with the different student organizations, to guide the freshmen with their stay in the University. This year, the theme was Monsters University, and so the student organizations had to design a monster that would best represent their respective organizations.
For Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Sikolohiya (SMS), the monster was named Henri Siegbert, and was made to look like a snake with wings, glasses and five eyes. For the preparation time, the team had roughly one week to finish both the monster and booth. SMS President Harvey Yulo recounts his experiences while preparing for the LPEP, “Sobrang sulit ng experience na ito. Yung smile ng froshies yung pumapawi ng pagod namin at yung alam namin sa sarili namin na kami yung gumawa ng lahat ng ito, ang isa sa pinakamagandang pakiramdam sa lahat.”
Apart from this year’s frosh welcoming, SMS still has several projects and activities in line for the coming terms. These activities will cater mostly to the needs and interests of the students. Yulo also expresses that the springboard for the activities of SMS this year will involve concepts and themes on Sikolohiyang Pilipino.
